Pre-university Scholarships

Pre-university scholarships are awarded to outstanding NYJC students every year. To apply for these scholarships, please look out for the announcement via morning assemblies or the intranet portal. Alternatively you may approach the teacher-in-charge to find out more.

Note that pre-university scholarships are awarded to students for their two years in junior college. They are different from university scholarships which are awarded to students for their university education.

Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship (JC category) (opens in new tab)

  • Singapore citizen;

  • Financially-deserving;

  • Good character & conduct;

  • Outstanding performance in inter-school/national sports association-recognised competition of his/her selected sport

JC Award worth $3000; Applicant must have his/her online application endorsed online by his/her school or the relevant National Sports Association; and agrees to be profiled in materials produced /approved by the Singapore Olympic Foundation and to allow the use of his/her photos/images in these materials; Financial Information of parents must be furnished

Mrs Koh Siew Leng

MOE Pre-University Scholarship (opens in new tab)

  • Singapore Citizens, or non-Citizens with at least 1 parent who is a Singapore Citizen, who:

  • Have done consistently well in school and obtained an aggregate score of 8 points or less (without bonus points deduction) in their GCE O-Level examinations for English and Higher Mother Tongue, or Mother Tongue and 5 relevant subjects as in the Pre-University admission criteria, or equivalent based on the school's internal assessment.

  • Have good co-curricular activities record.

  • Have a good conduct record.

  • Singapore citizen;

  • Outstanding 'O' level results + B3 in French, German or Japanese;

  • Enrolled in MOELC at H2 Level;

  • Good CCA & conduct record

  • Singapore citizen;

  • Have done consistently well in school and obtained outstanding results in their GCE O-Level examinations or equivalent based on the school's internal assessment;

  • Obtain at least an A2 in Higher Art or Art in their GCE O-Level examinations or equivalent based on the school's internal assessment OR possess a good art portfolio with documentation of active involvement in art-related activities within or outside of school;

  • Enrolled in AEP;

  • Good CCA & conduct record

  • First-year Junior College or equivalent Integrated Programme (IP) student in the science stream

  • Good academic and CCA track records

  • Passionate about science and technology

First two weeks of JC1 (Orientation period)

$1000/annum tenable in JC1&2 subject to continued academic excellence in JC1 Promos; Participate in school-based internships on DSTA/DSO sponsored research projects, talks, camps

Mr Goh Kien Soon

A*STAR Youth Researcher Award (JC) (opens in new tab)

  • Singapore citizen;

  • Have outstanding academic performance in science and mathematics subjects and a passion for science and research;

First week of JC1 (Orientation period)

$1000/annum tenable to JC1&2 subject to continued academic excellence in JC1 Promos; Participate in 5-week Research Attachment Programme at A*STAR research institute during Nov/Dec holidays, A*STAR seminars, outreach events

The award is offered annually to JC 1 students through nominations by schools only.

Mr Goh Kien Soon

Singapore Association of Women Lawyers Fund (opens in new tab)

  • Singapore citizen or PR;

  • physically and/or intellectually disabled students in financially difficult circumstances

$3000/annum to be renewed upon yearly application; Submit two recent testimonials of good character and parents' income status

Singapore Police Force Book Prize (opens in new tab)

Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident intending to take up citizenship, you may apply for the SPF Book Prize as long as you:

  • Possess academic excellence

  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities

  • Are passionate about serving the community

  • Are keen to contribute towards a safe and secure Singapore

Oct/Nov of JC1

Prize money of $2,500; opportunities to visit police establishments or attend official functions; emplacement on attachments /internships; opportunities to be considered for an SPF scholarship

Singapore Armed Forces Young Leader Award (opens in new tab)

  • Singapore citizen or PR intending to take up citizenship;

  • Demonstrate academic excellence

  • Display strong leadership qualities through co-curricular activities (CCAs)

  • Are passionate about defence-related issues

Nov of JC1

Prize money of $2,500; Exclusive opportunities to attend MINDEF/SAF programmes, scholarship talks and engagement activities to understand the career prospects in MINDEF/SAF; A scholarship interview for overseas studies upon application

Zhong Zheng Ren Scholarship (opens in new tab)

Up to 10 JC1 students who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in aesthetics, sports, community and/or leadership, or have shown great resilience during their time in Secondary school.

Feb/Mar of JC1

Each scholarship has a cash award of $1,000. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to initiate projects for the college or the community.
